Restore Browser (1), (2)
An explorer-like browser that actually opens the backed up storage for browsing.
You can browse and look for the data you want to restore.
The mouse right click enables the following menu commands:
On the left pane:
- View / Hide DirSize - This On/Off function shows every folder's size. When selecting 'View', you'll see numbers near the folder's name. The numbers structure is: folder name [Current size] {History size}.
'Current size' is the total size of the folder by the end of the last backup session. 'History size' is the total capacity of all the files in this folder that are the historic versions only. Further insights on this matter on 'Advance Use' issues. |
 |
- Add to list - Add the selected folder or file to the restore list ('Files to Restore').
- Find - Finds a folder or a file in the backup storage. This action will pop a windows with all matching items. See more details on the 'Advanced Use' related chapter.
- Rename - This feature exists for the cases in which a machine's name on the network has changed. This option allows you to change a machine's name that has already been backed up to its new name, without loosing the context of previous backups. Learn more in the 'Advanced Use' chapter.
- Refresh - Refreshes the browser's screen.
- Properties - Identical to the Windows' explorer-like function. Displays the folder or file(s) system's properties.
On the right window pane the following right-click menu exists:
- Delete Item - This action completely deletes the selected file(s) or folder(s) from backup storage. You will be prompted to confirm this action because it is unrecoverable. This function is useful when you want to delete item(s) that already in backup for many reasons: It was backed up by mistake, it is no longer valid, you want to clear space from the backup volume etc.
- Delete History - The same as 'Delete Item' but it deletes only the histories and versions of the selected item(s). This action will leave the 'Current' items intact.

BOS will collect from relevant backup historical directories the correct version and add to the restore list ('Files to Restore') all the versions of the files that existed at the selected date & time. See more details on 'Advanced Use' related chapter.
- Add to list - Add the selected folder or file to the restore list ('Files to Restore').
- Refresh - Refreshes the browser's screen.
- Properties - The same as in the explorer-like function. Displays the folder or file(s) system's properties.
Item's Versions (3)
When selecting a single item in the restore browser, this list displays all the item's versions in backup. Every line represents a different version of the item you can easily restore by adding the selected version to the restore list ('Files to Restore') or by dragging it with right-mouse to the desktop area.
Note that you can simultaneously restore more than one version of an item. BOS has the ability to prevent file name duplication while restoring. When restoring multi-versions of a file, select on the restore dialog window :'In case of duplicate file: Rename file'.
The 'Item's version' has a right-click menu:
Files to Restore (4)
