Outlook Recovery

BOS System allows the recovery of local PST files in two different ways: the backup and restoring of all the different objects in regular Outlook format, and trough the backup and restoring of all the objects in Outlook Express format.

In both formats, the folders tree is kept in the disk in an identical view to the actual folders structure as seen with Outlook software. Every mail message or appointment is saved as a single file. This data protection form has a number of advantages over standard backup systems:

  1. Scanning and backup of new objects from Outlook is performed at high speed and only those newly added or changed are backed up to the backup Repository area.
  2. The backed up data contained in hundreds or thousands files is protected from a single failure in the main data file. Such failure could produce general damage to all data in the database.
  3. The restoration of data from single files enables restoring every single object independently from the presence or the existence of other objects.
  4. The presence of files outside the database enables the access to them and their data, which are kept even when a certain database, with all its special definitions, is found corrupted or even totally faulty.
  5. Backing up in a regular format it is possible to open every single object through Outlook and view its contents. The restored file will be identical to the original object, as created in the database.
With this format, it is also possible to re-create the whole PST, and get back to work in the shortest imaginable time.

For those cases in which it is suspected that Outlook software won't be available when required, for instance in a mobile computer, BOS allows an additional way of database protection, through Outlook Express.
This format allows the opening of every object with Outlook Express, even when the Outlook software fails or is absent of the computer system.
